

Eurelectric: Redefining Energy Security in the Age of Electricity
Flagship study in cooperation with Compass Lexecon
This study has four main objectives. First, to define the forces shaping the new energy security and security of power supply in Europe. Second, to clarify what security of supply means for the modern European power system. Third, to evaluate system needs to maintain security of supply in Europe and specific regions, and to assess the profitability of asset types. Fourth, to analyze the current investment framework and develop policy recommendations to ensure security of supply in a net-zero world. The study includes a quantitative assessment and focuses on the challenges posed by increasing shares of variable renewable energy sources.
